The little icon that appears to the left of the web address, and in your bookmarks/favorites menu, is called a favicon. You can generate one of these and include it on your website by following the instructions on the Favicon from Pics website.
All you need is a graphic to base your icon on - jpeg, gif, png or other format - in a size equal to or bigger than the icon you want. Icons are saved in various sizes - 32x32 pixels, 16x16 pixels, and other formats, as explained on the website. It's very easy to use; give it a go!
